So true Sozz, we have 2 collections going at work - one for our co worker and her family who have lost their house and everything
and one for the Red Cross from us, and our work contributed a big amount as well.. plus our own personal ones...

I was on the road before and 4 firetrucks were driving up the highway heading for the fire - which has now hit Badgers Creek (near Healesville) and all the cars went to the side and just waved - hailed them and the fantastic work they do xx I had tears in my eyes

One of the ladies I work with hubby is a firefighter and she was telling us the devestation - those guys are amazing -- the kangaroos that have flown out of there - from fire into the fire as they have no where to run and also a possum just came flying at him and clung to his clothes - had he not had his vest on he woulda been ripped to shreds -- not to mention the human side of suffering he has seen

My favourite town Beechworth is under fire too now

When you mentioned Badger Creek I thought back to July last year when we spent three nights at the Sanctuary Park Cottages on Badger Creek Road in Healesville. It would be a dreadful shame if that place was hit by the fires.

And then you said that Beechworth - another town we stayed in - was under fire, too! We can directly relate to this.

We took these photos in July last year. The first two are of the main Street in Beechworth. The panoramic view of the main street in Beechworth shows the early Victorian architecture that characterises the town. Although many of the building interiors have been substanitally modernised, the external facades have been kept in near-original condition.

Beechworth is like a town lost in time. I couldn't say for certain if the 1963 Holden EJ panel van is still in use as an RACV (Victorian auto club) roadside assist vehicle (photo 3), but if you though that was a relic, what about the 1962 Holden EK panel van (photos 4 & 5) that followed it. I regret that we didn't take more photos of the town.

Yes it is a gorgeous town like all historic towns in Australia -- so much history to it and the architecture is just exquisite

Aww how could you not sook at that ..

Yesterday, I did something I don't normally do. I bought a newspaper, because I felt that the "event" being reported about (the bushfires), was a significant moment in the history of our country - one that will be remembered and marked in the years to come.

Members of my family will each be making financial donations to one of the organisations collecting for the bushfire cause.

Public Generosity Incredible

Its has been wonderful seeing the outpour from the public
We have a radio station here that is just full on about the Bushfires and whatever they need, the companies are there in a flash

Restaurants have opened just for the people -- all free

One minute they say they have run out of pet food for the animals - next minute, bang its done and set, someone has rung in and fixed it

It really is beautiful to see so many come forward at a time like this..

Yeah, Tush. Community spirit. Wonderful to observe. Full marks to everybody involved.

Yeah I have bought the papers too George -- more stuff to burn if we ever had a fire ( not funny :huh: )

On a bad note, they are talking about the 2 fires merging, they better not -- I just want the fires to stop now

On a sorta good note - my co worker had her D day to go back to her house today if she wanted to which they did -- they had left in a rush Saturday afternoon as she had just got home and they got told to leave --- so they had nothing -- she has a lil farm sorta -- her stomach was doing somersaults when she got there
-- but guess what?

Her house is there -- and the animals too -- thats it - 3 houses left
HOW can that be that the fire chooses which houses it wants.....
She has a creek at the bottom of her property and we are presuming the animals musta jumped in there -- those poor little things

Everything around her house is burnt -- sheds the lot
