The invasion of political correctness into everday language. For example, there's no such thing as a "violent madman" anymore. Instead, we have a person with "anger-management issues".

Hate politically-correct language, and its intrusion into everyday language. It's made honest, clear communication between people, impossible.

Heartless Greedy People

I was shocked and disgusted to hear someone complaining about the money the bushfire people were going to get -- I stood there in disbelief and who ever was talking to me, I wasnt listening coz I just couldnt stop myself asking that person if I heard right?

UNBELIEVABLE...

You know what...

I am getting really sick of our politicians and the way they play politics , its just a joke - and our newspapers just as bad

Our newspaper journalists should be pulled up - I get so peeved off that they are allowed to publish crap, then backtrack covering their butts

its sooo annoying

If you think I'm wrong then say "I think you're wrong". If you say, "You're wrong", how do you know?

I have seen one nearly every day by them and have never said anything - maybe they should write a report on how they employ idiots that cant spell in the paper - let alone write the truth...

I don't mind typographical errors in the newspapers. I don't even mind when certain things aren't properly proofread. If I have one peeve, it's when a journalist tries to use a five-dollar sounding word that they don't know the meaning of. My favourite in this regard is the word "ernormity". Perhaps it's the way the language is evolving and, perhaps, I really shouldn't complain. For example the word "gay" meant something quite different before our sexually-liberated society turned it into something else. These days, Gen-X/Y youngsters seeing the old movie title The Gay Divorcee (starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers) might be wondering if Hollywood was more tolerant of homosexuals as long ago as 1934?

The word enormity means outrageous or heinous character, as in used in a phrase like "the enormity of his offences". As our language evolves, the word is taking on a synonymous meaning to the word enormousness, a word that means hugeness, immenseness or far-reaching scope. Even so, I have a mirthful chuckle whenever I hear a TV journalist say, or read in a newspaper, "the enormity of the Government's economic reforms ..."

If you think I'm wrong then say "I think you're wrong". If you say, "You're wrong", how do you know?
